現在の屋台は3台目で、明治5（1872）年の大火で焼失した先代の屋台は「擬宝珠はギヤマンであり、載せ物の諫鼓の胴に巻いた
緋羅紗には九龍の刺繍が施され、その眼には玉がちりばめてあったと伝えられている。現在の屋台も彫刻に60年を費やしており、豪華さや繊細さを感じさせる手の込んだ仕上がりとなっている。

The current float is the third generation. The previous float was destroyed in a major fire in 1872 (Meiji 5). It is said that the earlier float featured giboshi finials made of glass, and that the drum of the mounted kangū (admonition drum) was wrapped in crimson cloth embroidered with nine dragons, with jeweled eyes.

The present float also reflects exceptional craftsmanship, with carvings developed over a period of 60 years, resulting in a richly detailed and refined appearance.

「諫鼓に鶏」

諫鼓とは中国の伝説で、聖天子堯（ぎょう）が、その施策について諫言しようとする民に打ち鳴らさせるために、朝廷の門外に設けた鼓（「いさめのつづみ」ともいう）のことで、国富み民豊かになれば、諫鼓を打つ人もなく、草に埋もれその上には鶏がとまっている。そうした情景は政治が安定している比喩で、いかにも平和を謳歌した江戸時代の民衆の発想である。

“Chicken on the Admonition Drum”

The kangū (admonition drum) is a motif derived from a Chinese legend. It refers to a drum placed outside the imperial court by the sage ruler Yao, allowing people to strike it when they wished to offer advice or criticism of governance.

When the country prospered and the people lived in peace, no one needed to beat the drum. It became overgrown with grass, and chickens were said to perch upon it.

This scene came to symbolize stable governance and a peaceful society, reflecting the Edo-period ideal of harmony and prosperity.

大紋には大町の「大」の文字を配し、肩から袖口に走る袖繋ぎ、裾柄に巴の紋を配した法被である。
昭和40年代に全体を青空色に染めた法被にしたが、青空色の染料が廃盤になったことも影響し、平成15年頃から黒色を基調とした色に再び変更している。

The main crest features the character “Dai” (大), representing Ōmachi.

The happi coat incorporates tomoe motifs in both the sleeve connections running from the shoulders to the cuffs and in the hem pattern.

In the 1970s, the coats were dyed a sky-blue color overall. However, partly due to the discontinuation of the dye, they were changed again around 2003 to a design primarily based on black.
