　小国町屋台を制作した職人集団とほぼ同じであると伝えられており、技術や技法が活かされていると思われる。
朱漆を主として用いている。デザイン上の特徴は、二階の欄干を低くして乗せ物台の雲形をわき上がるように高く見せ、その上に乗った修行者費長房が軽やかに飛翔しているイメージを演出している。
二階高欄の彫刻は十二支の動物である。十二支は釈迦涅槃図に描かれており、仏教の世界と深いかかわりがあるため採用されたと思われる。

This float is believed to have been created by a group of craftsmen closely related to those who built the Oguni-machi float, and it reflects similar techniques and craftsmanship.

Vermilion lacquer is used as the primary finish. A distinctive design feature is the low railing on the second level, which visually emphasizes the rising cloud-shaped platform, creating the impression that the ascetic figure Hichōbō is soaring lightly above.

The carvings on the second-level railing depict the twelve animals of the zodiac. These figures are associated with Buddhist imagery, as they appear in representations of the Buddha’s Nirvana, suggesting a strong connection to Buddhist symbolism.

「費長房」大きく羽を広げた鶴に乗り、左手に巻子(巻物）を持ち、右手には団扇を持つ。

鶴仙人と通称される。
中国の瑞代に存在した僧で、仏教史を撰したことで著名である。日光東照宮やそのほかの寺院に費長房像が置かれるのは、仏教史を撰した功によって崇められるからで、寺の町たる寺町のしゃぎり屋台に飾られる由縁である。

Hichōbō (Crane Immortal)

This figure depicts Hichōbō riding on a crane with its wings spread wide, holding a scroll in his left hand and a fan in his right.

He is commonly known as the “Crane Immortal.” Said to have lived in ancient China, he was a monk renowned for compiling Buddhist history.

Statues of Hichōbō are found at sites such as Nikkō Tōshōgū and other temples, where he is revered for his scholarly achievements. For this reason, he was chosen as the mounted figure for the shagiri float of Teramachi, a district known for its many temples.

三本線の袖繋ぎの中央に折り鶴を図案化した大紋を配する。寺町の乗せ物は大きく羽を広げた鶴であり、大紋の折り鶴も乗せ物に由来する。裾柄は水の流れとともに、水車を配する。

The main crest features a stylized origami crane placed at the center of three parallel sleeve lines.

The mounted figure of Teramachi is a crane with its wings fully spread, and the origami crane motif in the crest is derived from this design.

The hem pattern incorporates a waterwheel motif alongside flowing water.
